YAY for Crochet Font!

I'm so excited. I've been trying to write some patterns down for a long time now but having a little problem writing the direction in words. My brain works much better in picture. I stumbled upon this StitchinCrochet Font from MyFonts and cannot be happier. I'm definitely going to go explore MyFonts site when I have a little time or need new fonts for my graphic design projects.

New Color: Fern Frond Scarf in Citron

A new color for the Fern Frond crocheted scarf made of wool blend bulky chunky yarn for carefree and warmth. Citron color is just so much fun. It's light enough for a brisk day. Wrap it around into a cowl/neckwarmer on the colder days.

Green Stretchy Plastic(?) twine

I went to one of my favorite nursery, Gardens, in Austin a few weeks ago to find (and found) some tomato, basil and pepper plants. They always have what I'm looking for. The plants are always very healthy. The store part is very cool with lots of pretty, cool, interesting and sometime hard to find. I always enjoy looking around.

I found this green stretchy twine on the shelf right outside the store's entry from the nursery section. It caught my eyes right away and I was smitten! I don't really know why, just something about it. Maybe because it's in a spool and look like yarn! lol. Even though I had no idea what to do with it other than tying something. But that was not what I had in mind for it. I really want to crochet something with it.

Since I've been crazy busy at work I have not had a chance to think about it or play with it until now. Here I am, sitting here looking at it and still loving it. But, what to do...

Operation Lap Wrap mission is to bring a piece of the outside world to these Wounded Warriors.
The Lap Wrap is a symbol of warmth, security and caring.

The personalization gives it a feeling of home. Our Service members are sometimes flown into the hospitals in a gown; some go home with a hospital gown, and some with lost limbs. These Lap Wraps are a way to show that we are out here and we care. Your mission if you choose to accept it:

1. Prepare a handmade Lap Wrap (no larger than 45x45) (any design or technique you choose)


2. Put your name or your groups name on the item (permanent marker, embroidery, or a label)


3. Attach a card/letter address it to the anonymous Service Member who will receive the item and have everyone involved sign the card.

Learning to crochet with hairpin lace loom

My very first attempt at crocheting hairpin lace
on one of the looms I got last week.

I bought 3 hairpin lace looms last week. They, at least, look different to me. I also got some hairpin lace loom instruction books and patterns. I didn't have a lot of time to play around with them much. So far, they seem to have a lot of potentials and not too hard to do so far. Will try to post more on this subject.

I also got a 2 CDs set of Vintage Patterns from OldTimeQuilts on etsy. The CDs compilation is well done. I'm very happy with the purchase. They're so extensive that I don't think I'll be able to look through all of them. I've clicked through some titles that look interesting to me and they're great. More inspiration!
