Butterflies, butterflies and more butterflies...

Butterflies by Manolo Valdés Photo: Sotheby's
I love getting artdaily newsletter in my inbox every morning. I've seen many beautiful arts that I otherwise would never heard of or seen without leaving the comfort of my own home. This morning was no exception. I was smitten when I saw this picture of Monola Valdes's Butterflies.

Alexander McQueen's Butterfly Hat Photo: Harper's Bazaar

I have a soft spot in my heart for butterflies since forever. This sculpture also reminded me of Alexander McQueen's Butterfly Hat in Harper's Bazaar which I have a copy pinned to my office wall for a while now.

Fluttery Breath of Life Necklace by Jewelera on Etsy
I found these gorgeous ethereal butterflies necklaces and earrings by jewelera on Etsy. They are just breathtaking and much closer to my price range than the Manolo Valdes' and Alexander McQueen's pieces. Certainly if money is no object, I'd like to have them all. But for now I might just have to get one of Jewelera's earrings or necklaces soon.

Coming This Fall to Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond, Virginia

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Online Store

Virginia Museum of Arts Museum Shop

Beret/Slouchy Hat      Lots of Round Cup Leaflets    |    Mega Loops    |    Regal Collar Scarflette

I'm so excited and couldn't be happier that my wearable arts will be available at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) this fall in October.

The pieces I'm working on for the museum are the Lots of Round Cup Leaflets scarves, Mega Loops scarves, Regal Collar Scarflettes and Beret Slouchy hat with Grosgrain Ribbon. All in many colors to choose from. If you're in the Richmond, Virginia area, please stop by and check them out when you visit the museum.

I have not been to the museum in person but from what I see online it's wonderful. There are seven exhibits going on right now including Chuck Close and Woodblock Prints by Hawase Hasui. I think you can easily take a full day (if not more) to be able to enjoy everything at the museum.  There are a cafe and a restaurant at the museum. The museum also have lots of special events, evening programs and classes. General admission is free. I can't wait to visit it in person soon.

Introducing Simply Woodworking by Wayne Willcox

Wayne Willcox opened his online Etsy shop Simply Woodworking by Wayne Willcox on January 18, 2010. Wayne is a software developer. He has been an avid woodworkers for a long time, a craft he learned from his dad (and his dad from his grandfather). He took up wood turning and loved it since taking a class from David Mark at the local Woodcraft store only a few months ago. You can find him out in his workshop every night after a full day writing codes in front of the computer.

Check out his awesome graphic and simple yet elegant and beautiful hand turned Maple Wood Bottle Stopper on Wayne's etsy shop. There are other equally gorgeous ones on the site and he's busily turning and planning to list new items very often. Wish him luck by commenting on this post. Thanks!
