Butterflies, butterflies and more butterflies...
Butterflies by Manolo Valdés Photo: Sotheby's |
Alexander McQueen's Butterfly Hat Photo: Harper's Bazaar |
I have a soft spot in my heart for butterflies since forever. This sculpture also reminded me of Alexander McQueen's Butterfly Hat in Harper's Bazaar which I have a copy pinned to my office wall for a while now.

Coming This Fall to Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond, Virginia
Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Online Store |
Virginia Museum of Arts Museum Shop |
Beret/Slouchy Hat | Lots of Round Cup Leaflets | Mega Loops | Regal Collar Scarflette |
I'm so excited and couldn't be happier that my wearable arts will be available at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) this fall in October.
The pieces I'm working on for the museum are the Lots of Round Cup Leaflets scarves, Mega Loops scarves, Regal Collar Scarflettes and Beret Slouchy hat with Grosgrain Ribbon. All in many colors to choose from. If you're in the Richmond, Virginia area, please stop by and check them out when you visit the museum.
I have not been to the museum in person but from what I see online it's wonderful. There are seven exhibits going on right now including Chuck Close and Woodblock Prints by Hawase Hasui. I think you can easily take a full day (if not more) to be able to enjoy everything at the museum. There are a cafe and a restaurant at the museum. The museum also have lots of special events, evening programs and classes. General admission is free. I can't wait to visit it in person soon.
