I've been needing to get my garden started for this year but have not had a chance. Work has been horribly crazy (but I am thankful I have a job.) Finally got all of the hot jobs out for the moment. So, I went to It's About Thymes in south Austin near Manchaca with my BFF Renee.

It was a lot of fun. We spent hours there. Renee has never been there and was amazing with what they have in stock. She's looking for Knock Out Rose for her front yard and other plants for the garden. I was looking for Thai pepper, Siam Queen basil and Sacred (Holy) basil.

We saw some cool metal garden sculptures and many other garden ornaments. We saw Peggy Martin Antique Rose that survived a few days under 21' of salt water of hurricane Katrina. It's a climbing rose that I will keep that in mind when I want another pink climber.

Renee found a beautiful Knock Out rose. She also considered Martha Gonzales which the gentleman at the nursery highly recommended as a very easy growing, tough antique rose. She decided to stick with the Knock Out that Lucinda recommended. She also got a Sumac Jasmine, gardenia and some ivy.

I got 6 4" pot of Thai pepper, 6 4" pots of Thai Sacred Basil, a 4" pot of Thai eggplant, and a 4" pot of the hottest pepper in the world "Bhut Jolokia". I'm going to tag this one Wayne's Pepper. He he... All these plants are very hard to find but It's About Thymes almost never failed me.

All and all it was a very successful and fun outing. We went to the Knitting Nest on the way home. It's way south on Slaughter Lane. Tera told Renee about it. Renee's gone there before but trying to get some cool yarn for me for my birthday last Nov. 4 (yes! election day)they were closed.

I got some beautiful yarn from there. I also learned about Code Pink for Peace and the White House pink quilt cozy project. They going to hang on the White House fence on Mother's Day. The project is collecting 4" knitted and crocheted squares from women all over the country to make the quilt. The background will be pink and letters will be blue. I bought a pink Cascade220 yarn in Cotton Candy pink to make some. Have to get busy with that since they have to send it by the first of May.

The Knitting Nest is an awesome shop. It has a very good vibes when you walked in. I'll definitely make many more trips down there even though it's so far from Cedar Park.

Day trip to Llano to see the Bald Eagles

That was the plan any way. Supposedly there're 4 eagles living there.

It was a beautiful day for a ride. Lots of bikes on the road going the same way. Wayne said they're sport bike so they can go a lot faster than us. If I remember correctly, they're members of "StreetFX" from Houston. At least that's what their jacket said :-)

When we got to the eagles viewing area, there were a few cars and people waiting for the eagles but no eagles. We rode into Llano and ate a ton of Cooper's B-B-Que. That was worth the trip in itself, I think. There were a big group of dual sport bikes getting to the restaurant at the same time. They're from Junction, TX. Wayne was envious. We stop by to check out the eagles again on the way home, still not there. This time there was only 1 car waiting. Oh well, next time.

Busy, busy, busy bees...

It's been absolutely crazy at work since the beginning of the year, and it's getting even more hectic. You can feel the stress permeating in the whole office. Lots of people, including me, has been working lots of overtime. There's not a lot of time left in the day to do other things.

I'm looking forward to get back into posting more pictures and a bit more information. I've learned so much at SXSWi 09. Mostly, how much I don't know. But, one has to start somewhere right? The buzz in downtown Austin during SXSW weeks is definitely energetically loud. Lots of good sessions at the conference itself. I've attended some great ones. Then, there're the parties after hour. Boy, can they party. I didn't go to any party. I feel like a social outcast at this exciting event. Maybe next time I'd feel like the in-crowd... What do you think?

The gist of what I got is social networking and mobile (iPhone mostly) app is the way of the near future. It's growing leaps and bounds.

I have been getting into tweeting (twitter.com) a little bit. Still has lots to learn. It's fun to see what other people are talking about. I feel a little with it living through other people's activities. Does that make me a twitter observer? I do try my best to contribute to this fast moving train of communication. But, as I mentioned before, work is keeping me much longer than 40 hours week.

I've made my first twitter background yesterday. I can see how this can be a creative outlet for designer and artists. You can change the background instantly and keep changing it! I can have a different background everyday (if only Iwere so prolific!) But there's that ability and opportunity if only you'd take it. Be as creative as you can be. Have some fun. It's much easier than getting a tattoo and much less permanent. You just can't be the clinging type that cannot let go of your twitter background!

If only I had more time, I'd tell you more. Really!

Going to SXSW Interactive this weekend.

Eventhough I've been living in the Austin areas forever, I have not attend any SXSW events. I'm excited and a little apprehensive about it. But, I'm looking forward to soak in all the information I possibly can about all things interactive in five days!

Picking up the badge tonight and go from there.

I've been making screen shots of the treasuries that I've made and ones that fellows Etsyian made featuring my items. I've been pretty good about uploading them to my flickr page but not so good keeping up with this blog. It's the writing thing, I think :-)
